Trading Cards Project
Shrewsbury Town Foundation
During my time at Shrewsbury Town Foundation, I developed the Mascot Trading Cards - a concept designed to turn positive behaviour into something tangible, rewarding, and fun.
The idea centred around using the Foundation’s mascots, Blue the Lion and Amber the Lioness, as the face of a collectible card system. Instead of player-based rewards (which quickly become outdated), the mascots offered a consistent, future-proof identity. With anyone able to wear the suit and new designs always possible, the system had the potential to grow endlessly.
Children earned cards by demonstrating the Foundation’s core values—things like leadership, resilience, creativity, and respect—during sessions. These weren’t just one-off rewards either. The system was built around progression, with four tiers (Blue, Yellow, Red, and Black) that reflected a child’s consistency and commitment over time. The higher the tier, the stronger the demonstration of that behaviour.
